Taking Busby to the desert

In real life, with other things than websites, seo, sem and other competitive keyboards activities, I often go to my small place of desert in south of Morocco.
It’s another way of life. I have internet connection only when I go to one of the Internet coffee place, in the “mainstreet” of the village.
I concentrate of making photos, and finding information that I will later use on my websites.

So my involvement in the Busby SEO challenge will of course change, at least in the beginning. My other internet challenges are also demanding, and they are for customers who are paying me money to appear on the first page of Google, exactly as we search to do it on this Busby competition.

That’s the good point of being in a team, like the Sphere one.
I’ll check the results as often as possible, and I’ll see how the team members do to bring us back in the first position.
And with my laptop, on a camel’s back, or under a traditionnal tent, I’ll won’t connect to the internet, but I’ll sort out my pictures of a world that lives now like people lived 500 years ago, without internet, without electricity, and even, in most of the cases, without books.

There was another to store and retrieve knowledge than search engines. This way is called oral tradition and memorization. It is a totally different process. Instead of just querying the australian data center of google to know who ranks on Busby, I would have had to remember by heart the name and adresses of all websites. That would have been quicker than if I’d try it now, because my memory would be trained to that.
Then, from time to time, I’d been to the oasis, and asked for news from the city. I would receive them from a traveller, who would also have memorized them. It would take years before I’d knew the results.
Of course, that seems stupid like that. But that would be true also with political events. And with plants properties.
We have a incredible wealth at our fingertips, when it’s enough to enter a few keywords in a search field to get the answer we nedd. But this wealth is also a great weakness, because we don’t learn things anymore. We know where they are and we can get them.

Two months ago, I did not know about a Busby hat. Neither on who was John Busby, but I’m not sure I really know about it now. I’m already forgetting it, though I know where to get the information.

In other words, the people I’m going to join now know things. We know pointers.

That was my philosophical post in this competition… hope it did not bother you :)
