In a few hours, it is the end of the Busby SEO Challenge.
That was a very interesting time, with a lot of great competitors, and unfortunatly some bad behaviours, people who tried to create mistrust, and whose practices should be banned.
That was my first SEO competition.
What did I learn?
SEO competitions are fun
We were playing a team from the beginning, and believe me, winners or not, the french seo guys are a great team ! We discussed a lot, exchanged a lot of ideas, had great moments of fun. And I hope I’ll be able to meet these guys, when I come back from the sands where I burried my Busby.
SEO challenge are like in real life, but worse
That was said by a member of our Team, and that was more than right. Like in real life we had bad asses among a great population of competitors.
Like in real life we have had many heart attacks.
Like in real life we had problems to understood our God Google and why he thought some Busby pages where more relevant than others.
I also learned a lot of English
I lost ranking on my other sites
As I was too deeply involved in this crazy challenge, I sometimes forget the other challenges of real life, and I’m now fighting to take back a few lines in Google SERP. With the SEO knowledge and experience that I got here, that should not be so difficult, I hope. Unless some of my competitors also played here.
But that should not be the case, the strongest competitors, the ones we fear, the ones who will win this challenge, are in another part of the world than my desert.
I learned copywriting for the web.
I used to speak about topics I knew. Not about – let’s be honest – stupid topics like the keywords. I learned to count my words, and to be sure to have a reasonnable percentage of Busby, and a good proportion of SEO, with a reasonnable amount of challenge. Of course you have to pay attention to the combination itself, as SEO Challenge for Busby is not the same as Busby SEO challenge, but we experienced with Google semantics abilities (and I have to be honest, they are low).
We killed Google and SEO urban legends
Believe me, clickiing on your own results does not produce anything. At all. Walou, rien de rien, nada, you don’t climb in SERPs with such stupid maniac tactics.
We were chaotics, as French people are, and we had good results. I’d be interested in seeing the results of a German Team. (Germany is a country where I lived and worked, and I always wondered about their high quality, which does not work so well in non German context).
It’s time to say goodbye to Busby, the challenge is over
I will be asleep when the verdict fails. Believe me, the first thing I’ll do waking up is to connect… not to Google, but to the sphere, and check what they say.
In the name of our team, thanks to all who made this a great time!
